Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has approved a one-year suspension on the issuance of gun licenses, known as Por 12, in an effort to reduce gun violence. The directive, based on the Firearms, Ammunition, Explosive, Fireworks, and Imitation Firearms Act, is awaiting approval from Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin and is anticipated to take effect the day after its publication in the Royal Gazette. The measure exempts state officials, including on-duty police officers, from the license suspension. Provincial governors have been instructed to enforce the directive within their jurisdictions.

The Department of Marine and Coastal Resources (DMCR) has embarked on an innovative ecological restoration project in the coastal waters of Racha Yai Island, south of Phuket. In a pioneering initiative, 88 sets of 3D-printed coral larvae islands are being installed at Siam Bay to rejuvenate the severely degraded coral reef in the area. Weeraphan Thongmak, Director of the DMCR’s Marine Resources Restoration Division, led the inaugural installation, with financial support from the Thai Union Group and the crucial involvement of the Siam Cement Group (SCG), responsible for crafting the 3D-printed forms. The project aims to breathe new life into the coral ecosystem, highlighting a collaborative effort towards sustainable marine conservation.
