Dane dies of blood loss after Phuket tsunami evacuation'

PHUKET: A Danish tourist injured during the evacuation of Patong Beach last Wednesday was found dead of apparent blood loss in his Patong hotel room yesterday afternoon.

Patong Police were notified of the death at 5pm by 40-year-old motorbike taxi driver Lamai Ouan – on.

Arriving at the scene with Phuket Kusoldharm Foundation workers, police found the body of the 46-year-old Dane lying on the floor beside the bed in his second – storey room of a resort hotel on 50 Pi Road in Patong.

Police estimated the time of death at five days previous to the body’s discovery by resort-worker Sommit Suka, 38.

Ms Sommit said the Danish man returned to the hotel bleeding heavily from a head wound last Wednesday afternoon after he crashed his motorbike on Phra Barami Road during the tsunami evacuation of Patong.

She told the Phuket Gazette that she advised the man to go to Patong Hospital for medical treatment, but he was drunk at the time and refused. Instead, he went into his room and shut the door.

When she opened the door to check on him as a second unofficial evacuation was underway following yesterday’s tremors, she found the man’s body on the floor next to the bed.

There were no signs of foul play in the room and none of the man’s valuables were missing, police said.

The name of the deceased is known to the Gazette, but is being withheld pending notification of kin.

Quake aftershocks rattle Phuket

www.thai-dk.dk/uploads/379883.jpg

Phuket was shaken by more than 50 small tremors on Thursday in the wake of the 4.3 magnitude earthquake that rattled the resort island on Tuesday, the Seismological Bureau reported.

Twelve of the tremors, before 11.30am today, were measured more than 2.0 on the Richter scale, very small.

People reported feeling the aftershocks in Phuket's Thalang district.

About 40 other tremors were recorded of less than 2.0 magnitude, the bureau reported.

The Mineral Resources Department's Active Fault Research Division yesterday warned that Phuket will be shaken by a series of mild tremors for about another month.

The department believed that the two major earthquakes measured at 8.6 and 8.2 near Indonesia's Sumatra island on April 11 might have sparked the movement of the Klong Marui fault line, leading to the Phuket tremors.

hej Joe jeg er kommet i tvivl om du kan rejse til Phuket Grin

citat fra http://www.nation...80361.html

Phuket Governor Tri Akaradecha on Friday ordered that a complaint be filed with police against persons spreading rumours that doomsday will arrive in Phuket by April 28.

The rumours have been spreading like wildfire ever since a quake rocked Phuket on Monday causing panic among many locals. Several aftershocks have followed, with a tremor of 3.2 magnitude felt at 2am Friday.

"Messages are have posted on Facebook and leaflets distributed warning people to evacuate Phuket by April 28," Phuket's disaster prevention and mitigation chief Wiroj Suwanwong told police.

He filed the complaint at the Mueang Phuket Police Station on behalf of Tri.
